Paid Commission 52: a B.E. version of Anna K's photo from X.com.

Commissioner: That New Shoe Smell
"... There is no one thing I can easily point to a call out for excellence because this is the summation of so many little details done superbly well.
"You nailed the lighting so well that she practically glows! ... The overall shading is so damned good that I can't even tell how you got her skin to look so soft. I can't stop looking at it!
"Of all the pieces you've done for me over the years, this is among the finest."
Parameters: Upper Body figure (1); Color; Background: Detailed.
Concept:
Bust-up of a photo (Anna Kochanius; shown above) that I think would work rather well with BE. In fact, it already looks like an expansion pic without any help. So, imagine that it is and she's further along with her growth, bulging even more out of that overwhelmed bra. Same pose and expression with a simple background that helps accentuate the warm lighting cast on the model.

Includes a rough (1) and tight sketch (1). The rough tried to show the concept with the subject's expanded breasts. The tight sketch clears up the roughness and shows the lifework closer to final.

I am VERY happy with how this Commission turned out. That said, what "helped” this image take such a leap is that, I must admit, I was simply “copying” the light that existed. I didn’t have to create it in my mind’s eye, but, instead, simply reproduce what I see. That’s a tremendous help! And, in many ways, the simplicity of her “structure” also helped keep the number of details stay low, so that each of those details could be truly worked up/matched from the original. (That is: No legs; face partial hidden; no ripping clothing; no overly complex expansion; and a color palette that is well-coordinated already in the reference.)
I wish I could produce this level of quality in all my images all the time. But it’s a challenge to “visualize” allll this detail for something that doesn’t exist — you don’t have reference, and you have to figure out the “physics." (Having a reference, all of these are mostly solved.)
The hardest part when creating images or comics for my “BA art" is when drawing a character that I am using reference for, but I have to come up with a NEW camera angle, pose, or expression that I DON'T have reference for and you have to “extrapolate” it in my mind.
But, then again, it’s also a time thing. I could never spend this much time on a comic and get it out every 3-4 months. The time spent on Commissions is much higher than that what I spend on each frame of grOw/cinema.
