The Whisperwind Institute stands on a secluded island within Mermesii's Sacred Lake District, nestled amidst the mountains. This dedicated area, reserved solely for religious facilities, provides an ideal setting for the Institute's purpose: training young women for various roles within the Order of Melariel. Built in the aftermath of the great lunian war; through a unique collaboration between the Desaens who contributed their deep understanding of elemental energies, and the Sarins, who provided the architectural prowess. Here, initiates are rigorously disciplined in channeling mana and understanding Melariel's teachings, ensuring that future priestesses, heralds, archivists, mages, and practitioners develop the necessary knowledge and skill to wield the Storm Goddess's power responsibly. The Institute, therefore, represents a vital effort to cultivate disciplined power and secure the Order's future.
This illustration was done as a hybrid artwork, from hand-made pen sketch and rough colors to AI refined image and manual fix and paintovers (see second image in the post). For this side story comics, I will keep using that technique to make elaborated backgrounds without too much effort (an illustration like this, 100% hand made would take at least a day or two, this one took me a bit less than three hours). I also have something in store for indoor environments! I will let you know more in the next few days!
