I feel like there's something more to Petrel's last words there. Maybe when Trout talks about becoming queen and the Tide liking her, Petrel is thinking about Sturgeon? Hoping that she becomes queen so that she can make the future she promised. Maybe Petrel is really saying that they hope 'the Tide' could somehow see what they're trying to do (even though they don't believe in it, they could be hoping for the chance of it 'picking' by luck) and pick Sturgeon so that Petrel doesn't have to hurt Trout? I don't think I explained it well put that's the vibe I get anyway
