oh cool Daniel ' the best man ' the man who knows about the little door ' hurrah ' !! i love you pal ' it just so happens i got hunted by fbi and ended up in a ditch eating rocks ' the end '

Great conversation - esp. appreciated the details about Nabokov & the unspoken traumas of some of his characters... I noticed that same dynamic in a lot of Kubrick & Lynch... I just got through Pale Fire... Really disagree with a lot of the comments about Breaking Bad though! I think he was a detestable character, definitely in the last season, but even from the third. What we admired about him was his ability. By the time he had killed Mike, Hank was dead, and he gave Jesse away he was a villain. If any in the audience missed that, they failed the test. He fulfilled a lot of his duties in the finale, but fairly mechanically, and I think the final walk through the lab and the song Baby Blue that he was still intoxicated with his own abilities & exploits... I'm overstating it a little, but that's kind how I saw it. I listened to a lot of the insider Breaking Bad podcast, I think Vince Gilligan is a more subtle story teller than some people might assume, by some of the comments he made in that...
