Hey guys! Welcome to the second Aug update! I just finished a 1700m open water swim competition and I'm feeling really good about myself! We're also slowing inching towards to a proper antagonist reveal in the comic so im super excited!
Lets get right to it

IWBTWR

The future hallucination idea is to allude that the boy is actually Zoey's ancestor, but it's also to frame him as "the precedent"
"The precedent" is a concept I really would like to explore with Zoey's arc. Zoey represents a person who makes really bad decisions in life, then turns around and argues that the reason to why she's a bad person is not because she's inherently born a bad person, but the circumstances to her upbringing which force her to adapt to become this type of person. As the context to this circumstace fades away as time passes on, she has grown into a person who has to relearn how to be a "good person" again, especially when she is creating other precedents to different people she interacts with, simply by being a shitty person out of circumstance.
However you do not know what she has done, just that right now in the moment she's crashing out over something that has happened in the past.
Zoey's journey to overcome generational trauma begain with her ancestors. It's long and tedious to give context to her character. It's a huge writing challenge fitting it all for one person. I hope it's going well so far!

These two characters are not the same, and it was very surprsing to see people interpet them as the same character. maybe it's because of the same clothing and drawing style for boys I'm not very experienced in.
More context to who this golden spirit will be given in the next comic. Until then I'm still kinda iffy on a second golden spirit. But i'll see how it goes after this one's reveal.
It's also an intentional choice to clash the yellows blues and reds all in this current arc.

The clouds in the background are made with a dry gouche brush. I really like how it came out. I angled the clouds in a round bottom up perspective to have a more dynamic angle than before. I looked like this in the draft and I wasn't happy with it. So it touched it up and much happier now.

Finally, the last page to transition in the next proper chapter. I'm super excited to the reveal.
This final page is also supposed to mirror this scene earlier in Zoey's comic as well, right as she's about to enter another convinience store

I guess my reasoning to framing it like this is to give the impression to the reader that they are both in a similar unhappy mindset, looking for a way out. With the blue neon light tempting them both in like how it did with Jenny.
The next comic is going to explain so much and tie a lot of loose ends together. I will be going into the color choices in great detail
