Video player disabled for non-supporters
Added 2021-10-18 15:09:06 +0000 UTCIt has finally come to this. I have been debating whether disabling the video player is worth the loss of potential new users, but today I have decided to just try it.

Pixeldrain has been struggling with content which breaks the content policy for a long time. You might think "If they're keeping that content to themselves it's not that big of a problem". And I tend to agree with that, I don't have too many issues with hosting any content as long as it's not strictly illegal. The problem is that other companies which I depend on don't want to be associated with shocking and sexually explicit videos. So all those visitors are worthless from an advertising standpoint. Patreon also does not want to be associated with websites which break its own community guidelines, so I need to make sure pixeldrain meets those too.
For my supporters on Patreon nothing changes, you can still watch videos uploaded by other users and share your own videos with others. But if neither the uploader nor the viewer has a Pro account the video player will not work.
