I'm Still Here was outstanding, for me clearly better than Anora, which vomited all over itself (pun not intended) during that wanna-be Tarantino scene in the 2nd act

2025-02-17 02:28:36 +0000 UTCI loved Anora. It is a very good movie, so I am not surprised by the accolades and awards it has received so far. I went to see "I'm Still Here" over the weekend. It is also an amazing movie. Is it better than Anora? Hard to say. These are very different movies about very different things. That is part of the problem with these award competitions. It is not easy to compare, rank, or size up movies that are very good but very different.

And the way his wife/producing partner showered him with love instantly - I don't know - I'm just over the moon for them and their little movie that could and I can't wait to see it sweep a BP win! 2025-02-09 23:05:28 +0000 UTCIt’s really telling that the controversy is basically pulling Emilia Perez out of the race. Because if it was a good movie on its own merits, i think it could still have a chance of winning. But I’m convinced that most of the votes for it were just virtue signaling.

2025-02-09 21:06:23 +0000 UTCIt’s definitely winning BP and probably director. I’m very happy for that. One of my favorites of the year. Especially happy Emilia Perez is out of the race basically. That would’ve been one of the worst BP winners of all time.
