Which Should I See First?

I think I know the answer lol...but what film do you want a review of first?

Comments

I don't know why I have a weird aversion to watch "saltburn" lol... I don't know why...

Sutil

I’ve never seen that one. Been meaning to. But yeah, I do like Gladiator a lot. Not worthy of Best Picture, but it still holds up in large part due to Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. I think it’s better than, say, Spartacus. And I do love Kingdom of Heaven as well. Not everyone does, but I just find it absorbing, the world that Scott creates. And it has one of Edward Norton’s better performances, which he’s not even billed for.

Bennett Oliver

For my money his best period piece is still his film debut, The Dualist, despite the success of Gladiator and my own love affair with Kingdom of Heaven.

Matt C

True. Ridley Scott has one of the most hit-or-miss careers of any director I know. But he tends to fare well with historical epics. Not this time though. Napoleon’s been getting some dismal reviews.

Bennett Oliver

Unfortunately, Ridley Scott isn't a guarantee for success either. He's had his fair share of bombs after Gladiator.

Matt C

Napoleon is directed by, Ridley Scott

Gary Smith

I haven't seen any of his post Black Hawk Down works but yeah the films I've seen his name on in ads recently are just...why? How did this dude make something like Alien?

Wolfman Brandon

I mean...it's Ridley Scott. He's hard to take seriously ever. Especially when he tries.

Deepfocuslens

I thought Napoleon was Ridley Scott.

Atticus Xey

Oliver Stone? What's he got to do with it?

Alexandros Alexandropoulos

Napoleon has to be a satire. There's no way with those tv ads that this could possibly be taken seriously. Napoleon from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure might not be as silly as I thought now.

Wolfman Brandon

lol...no. Apologies

Deepfocuslens

lol...for some reason, I confuse the two all the time. Has nothing to do with their films or what the men look like. For some reason, their names are just completely interchangeable in my mind.

Deepfocuslens

I see Jacob Elordi is having his moment.

Shane Palamara

No, Oliver Stone did not direct Napoleon, but seeing how Alexander turned out, that’s probably for the best.

Bennett Oliver

Is there also an Oliver stone Napoleon film?

Shaeffer Holt

Saltburn looks way more interesting. Napoleon looks like another generic biopic
