I saw M:I-7, finally, on Sunday and loved it! Thought it was on par with the previous 3 films in the franchise. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the decision to make it a two-parter entry in the franchise. This series has largely been the same main cast with the villains in each film switching out (except these last three, soon to be four films). There was absolutely no reason for there to be a sequel to this story. Heck, Fallout was basically a sequel to Rogue Nation. You had the same villain and basically the same cast for both. Just because the story didn’t wrap up neat with a bow doesn’t mean it needs to be two parts. We know there’s another film coming. You call this one Dead Reckoning and you call the next one … something else. Aside from that gripe, I can’t wait for the next one! And I’m seeing Oppenheimer this weekend. Like I said, order of anticipation.

2023-07-11 13:14:23 +0000 UTCThe Mission Impossible franchise has to be the most consistent one on the market. Save for the second movie, I don't think there's a movie in it I wouldn't call very good if not great. I do feel it peaked a bit with Fallout but I still found this entry exceptionally thrilling and just really exciting blockbuster filmmaking.

2023-07-11 05:56:35 +0000 UTCI’m seeing it Wednesday night. I’m excited about it. I take it you went to an “Early Access” screening. At any rate, it’s remarkable Tom Cruise has managed to sustain the quality of these films after making seven of them. If anything, they got better with the fourth one, where he climbs the building. He realized that the formula to making these movies work is to do increasingly insane things practically and in-camera, then build a standard yet propulsive spy story around them.
