DAZ3D Behind the Scenes

Just a look into what goes into the comics I share! Working in any 3D software requires a significant investment of time (and money when new assets need to be bought for what I'm trying to create or show). Just the render time alone for a 25-page, 2 images per page comic for me is around 35-40 hours, depending on how much is going on in the render. (Lots of reflective surfaces add render time for the ray tracing, and we like our shiny surfaces!) Then to build each scene can take a couple of hours or more, especially if starting a scene from scratch. Then add the time to write the script and assemble it into a comic, I've got on average 80 to 100 hours invested. Again, for 25 pages, two images per page. None of those times includes the time spent before firing up DAZ, i.e. brainstorming, researching topics, or customizing materials for turning a human into a mannequin (for example). I'll start saving more of my test renders to show how a scene I'm building evolves from start to finished product.

Thank you for spending your time and money to create your great stories!

I hope you're feeling better. My savings account hasn't recovered much after helping my father with the passing of my mother. If my DAZ PC kicks the bucket right now, I'm not sure how quickly I'd be able to get back up and running.

Oh... I know exactly what you are talking about =) Been there, done that, until my health started to go downhill and my computer, that I did all my rendering on, died... :(
