The machine groaned, steel rollers grinding together as the transformation reached its grim conclusion. What emerged from the wringer was a flat, pliable poster that still bore traces of the woman she once was—a distorted, lifeless snapshot of her voluptuous body, stretched unnaturally and smoothed into a thin, rubbery sheet. She was laid on the gleaming metal element, her flattened form crumpling slightly at the edges where her compressed folds refused to fully flatten. The orange glow of the room bathed her in an artificial light that made her laminated surface shimmer like cheap plastic. A morbid silence hung over the room as the lead technician, a man with a clipboard and an unyielding gaze, gave the nod.

“Begin the tensile test,” he said, his voice devoid of emotion.

One assistant grabbed a corner of the flattened arm—a curling strip of glossy, human material that fluttered unnaturally. He yanked it upward, stretching it with deliberate force. Her body warped under the strain, elongating like elastic, but it did not tear. The sheet quivered with the motion, rippling as the assistant gave a second, harsher pull. A thin, high-pitched whine escaped from the material as though the process itself carried a faint, ghostly echo of pain.

The technician leaned in, scribbling notes. “Material is highly durable under moderate tensile force. Proceed with stress exceeding threshold.”

The second assistant stepped forward, gripping a larger section of her body. This time, he turned toward the edge of the element—a sharp metal corner designed to simulate the stresses of industrial use. He placed her cornered fold against it and pulled downward with brutal efficiency. The material resisted for a moment, but then, with a sharp, plasticky snap, a piece tore free.

The rip was clean and violent, splitting her thin form from chest to midsection. The laminated edges curled back from the rupture, revealing jagged lines of torn flesh compressed into the material's glossy interior. Her face remained untouched, fixed in its lifeless, frozen stare, though now twisted slightly by the shift in the poster's structure.

“Remarkable,” the technician murmured, stepping closer. He bent down, running a gloved finger along the edge of the tear. “The internal composition indicates structural layering. Yet, it separates under enough force. Document the failure point.”

The assistant dropped the torn section onto the metal surface, where it crumpled like discarded paper. It lay next to the larger, still-intact part of her flattened form. Her body was now little more than an experiment—split, torn, and crumpled into disarray. The technician straightened, his expression unchanging.

“Prepare the remaining pieces for the next series of tests,” he ordered, turning toward the exit. Behind him, the assistants moved mechanically, folding and lifting the remnants of what was once a living being.
