Rising out from the riverbed the stairs flow upwards towards the fortified doors of the sacred structure. The vines drape the pathway in celebration of nature engulfing the edifice but threatening to consume its contents for the rest of time amid this heart of darkness.
To climb these stairs past the age-worn fortifications towards the reinforced doorway is to fight against the combined weight of time and the mysticism surrounding this region, under the baleful watch of the natives deities, immortalized in the masonry.
