A set of rusty gates hanging loosely ajar on their hinges form as you walk forward through the fog, beyond them tombstones in rows frame the path. All are not resting in peace though as recent activity seems to have uncovered several of the caskets, which are now stacked unceremoniously to the side, who can say for what purpose.
To the side a faint light flickers from within the groundskeepers hut, an ominous sign of life in stark contrast to its dilapidated appearance.
As your eye drifts towards the hilltop stone structure of the mausoleum at the end of the path you notice its stone guardians are facing in. The local villages have many of these ancestral statues, but always facing away from their homes to guard from the malign spirits that are said to roam these lands.
The most curious thing however is the doors. They appear to be barred from the outside in an attempt to stop the doors opening inwards.
“Any port in a storm” is a phrase too quickly thrown around, but what happens if the storm is safer than the port...
