New Ambience: Upriver Recon

A journey to the source, perhaps? (Patreon Patrons receive 8 additional versions of this track)

Greetings Patrons,

I've always loved stories about journeys. - point a, to point b. It sounds so linear, and that's the point. It opens things up for adventure, for surprises along the way. Is the destination that is reachable, or not?

In Upriver Recon, you're traveling on a longtail style motorboat, up a winding jungle river. The banks of the river are dense with banyan, and other native trees. Deep within the vegetation you hear the sounds of various birds, primates and reptiles.

For the music, I wanted to do something a bit more universal than Asian percussion and wind instruments. This is a fairly hybrid style score in that I didn't shy away from using synths, pulses, and sound design elements. Swelling basses, flautando strings and adventure-style melodies accompany you as you make your journey. There's an arc in the music that starts slow, builds and then descends. I wanted this to be film-like.

As this track is currently in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version of the track (live on the site next week), as well as ambience-only and music-only versions here. Additionally, I created 2 versions with a canoe (or any non-motorized, paddle powered boat) instead of the motor boat. Also, there are 2 versions with no boats at all. Finally, I created 2 action loops from the section in the middle (slightly edited). These are provided in both mp3 and ogg formats (ogg loops can sometimes loop more seamlessly). I hope you find these useful additions.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim
