New Ambience: Pharaoh's Chamber

"Snakes, why did it have to be snakes?" - Indiana Jones (Patreon patrons receive 8 additional versions of this track)

Edit: Sept 23, 2025 - It seems a musical gremlin in the form a glitch sneaked into the music-only version of this track. It's been replaced. If you've already downloaded it, replace with this one (the date on the mp3 file should read Sept 23, 2025 and not Sept 17.)

Greetings Patrons,

There's this thing that John Williams does so well. I'm not talking about his amazing, memorable themes that seem to pour out of his pencil, I'm talking about his ability to conjure atmosphere. He does this tonally, and rhythmically, all within the confines of the traditional symphony orchestra. He didn't invent this, of course. The man himself pulled much of his palette from Holst, Stravinsky, Korngold, and others.

I've done this style of music before, but for this one, I limited the instruments even more. Ok, I did cheat by using a tiny bit of delay on a few things, just because.

"Pharaoh's (is there a harder word to spell??) Chamber" seemed like the right environment for this type of music. It's exploration music in a step-by-step sense -- you have no idea what's around the next bend, or lurking in the shadows. It's not dangerous, per se, but it's definitely not safe. If you hear this, put your guard up and check the corners and doorways.

There's tremolo strings, harp, brass ensemble, woodwinds, and various percussion all painting a picture in real time. Played nice and low, the music only version would make a great general purpose exploration/suspense track across many genres.

For the ambience, there's room tones, tunnel echoes, distant stone doors opening and closing, footsteps and the scurrying, slithering critters.

As this track is currently in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed-version of the track (live on the site next week), as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions here. Additionally, I created 2 each of "no footsteps", "no critters", and "no critters no footsteps" versions. These will be of most use in their ambience-only versions but I put them in the mixed versions as well. I hope you find these useful additions.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim
