SoundPad: Wuxia (Remastered)

Greetings Patrons,

I have now finished remastering these early edition SoundPads. This is the last one I needed to complete to make the whole set available!

Please don't share these files. They are for you, dear patrons, and you alone!

The website versions will most likely stay as they are for the time being, but these re-mastered audio files are of higher quality than what appears online (bandwidth/cost issues) and have been tweaked to the standards of the later SoundPads.

The format for these will be .ogg as it's superior to mp3 for looping purposes as well as quality/file size considerations.

As with most Patreon content, the simplest way to access it is via the Tabletop Audio website. As each SoundPad is remastered, a "Download on Patreon" button will appear on the page. That link will take you to the appropriate post.

If there are any Multi-part sounds (denoted by the x2, x4, etc on the website), they will be split into individual sounds as they would require the SoundPad engine to play properly. e.g.

Additionally, the files have all been renamed with a more consistent naming convention and id3 tags have been added.

I have very clear memories of releasing this original in the summer of 2020. Almost exactly 5 years ago. A surreal experience to be sure, but made even stranger by me deep diving on classic and modern wuxia and kung fu films. In fact, I didn't even know the term wuxia then.

The idea, like all SoundPads, is to capture an idea, a spirit and describe it in as few choice sound effects as possible. Not to be too overwrought, but it's a bit like the audio equivalent of writing poetry. When a small combination of sounds work, it's very satisfying. There are some really nice background sounds in this one. gently breezes, banners flapping, rain dripping on bamboo.

The fight sounds were fun. Much like the original Combat SoundPad, I split fights into feet, hands and head (voice). So feet scuffles are added as the base layer and on top of that you could fight with hands, swords or sticks. Fight grunts, yells and special attacks all add flavor.

The three musical tracks are great for adding the finishing touches. Listening to them years later, I'm still quite pleased how they turned out.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

Nope, nothing glitching on your end. I upload all the tracks to a shared drive and Moulinette processes them from there. Often it's the same week, but I can see that 467_Battle_Stations was the last track added. I'll send Sven a little nudge! -Tim

I have a question about your interface with Moulinette. I was going through trying to find the new songs added. I notice the latest song added was 467 Battle Stations. I was curious if there is a months delay with release of the new songs or if my software is glitching out! I appreciate any help, thank you!

Perfect for an Outgunned kung-fu fight. Thanks!
