Greetings Patrons,
Magical, quaint, slightly terrifying? We've all got opinions on Victorian Dolls. Especially in numbers.
So here we are, on a side street in London. A charming storefront with a murder of dolls in the window. (No, that's not the correct collective noun for dolls, but try and stop me from making it a thing.)
After hours, when the customers have gone and the employees have locked up, things begin to get a bit odd. Factions have formed. No one is sure if it's by dress length, hair color, or disposition. But sides are taken - as many as six. The whispering begins. Plans are formulated, tasks distributed. Throughout the night they move about in groups and create small diagrams out of ribbons. Outside, the rain and horse drawn carriages rattle the windows. By daylight, the dolls are back on the shelves.
Musically, this is romantic legato, and plucked strings, and a smattering of woodwinds, percussion, piano and choir. The whole thing is a bit dusty sounding, like an old attic, or a well loved record. I wanted it to be magical, but neutral. Like it could go in either direction.
I think this would make a good expository track, or even exploration/travel/downtime.
As this is in Patreon exclusive sneak-peek, I've included the mixed version of the track, as well as ambience-only and music-only versions. Additionally, I created 2 'no voices' versions which remove the doll's whispers. Finally, as requested below I added a music and voices only version.I hope you find these additions useful.
Important housekeeping note: My family and I are going to Madrid for a week on Saturday! Our oldest son has been studying there for the semester and none of us have ever been, so we decided now was as good a time as any. I'm very excited.
I'll be checking emails here and there but I'll obviously be away from the studio.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
