Greetings Patrons,
I love underwater adventures. I've created several ambiences over the years, and a couple of SoundPads (Deep Six and Atlantis). But, like taverns and dungeons, I always want more.
Deep Blue follows a submersible craft as it navigates through kelp forests, trenches, and ancient civilizations. I would say it's fairly genre agnostic. It would work equally well in scifi, or fantasy. And, nothing about the tech would be out of place in a modern situation.
The water ambient effects are subtly treated to give them a bit of an otherworldly presence. I worked with the cavitation sounds quite a bit, and found that mapping a midi controller to their pitch allowed me to 'drive' the craft more believably.
Musically, this is mostly synths and processed strings, with a bit of brass. It's all very floaty. I think it conveys a sense of adventure and possibility, more than danger.
As this track is in Patreon exclusive sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version (live on the site next week), as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions here. Additionally, while I was working on this I couldn't decide on the size of the craft. I ended up making a version with a smaller craft (higher pitched engine, smaller propellers) and I included those versions as well. There are also 2 no-craft version. These are all fairly subtle changes, especially when the music is playing, but I think in their ambience only form they'll be quite useful.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
