New Ambience: A Royal Visit

Greetings Patrons,

This track fell squarely into the 'I've written some music...but what is it?" categories. More importantly, 'where is it?'

At the beginning of the week I didn't let it get to me. I continued to write, edit and orchestrate the arrangement. As often happens, vibes emerged. I didn't fully grasp it at the beginning, but I couldn't shake the notion of royalty from this one. It's not fanfares and fireworks, it's even a bit dour at the start, but I think it evolves into something more triumphant - something regal.

From there, I developed a scenario where a royal retinue arrives in a city. It could be as returning heroes, or newly minted conquerors. There are horses and soldiers and maybe even a palanquin if we're feeling fancy.

People line the streets. Some cheer, many simply go about their business. There's a sense of exposition here. Something from which everything else emerges.

Musically, this is traditional orchestra top to bottom. Sweeping strings, stentorian brass, agile woodwinds and martial percussion on top.

The ambience is a medieval city, or large town. There's a sense of levity to the crowd. They are expectant, joyous, maybe a bit concerned. It's a fine general purpose city ambience.

As this is in Patreon exclusive sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed-version of the track (live on the site next week), as well as ambience-only and music-only versions. Additionally, I created 2 "No Applause" versions which remove the cheers and clapping form the sidelines which give it a bit more general utility. I hope you find these useful.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

Comments

Nice! Sorry to ask, I don't know if you do requests or not, or take inspiration from comments etc. but figured I'd try. I've been running some Regency Cthulhu games, and was hoping to get into some other games like Good Society and Our Brilliant Ruin. These all often contain ballroom scenes or dances, masques, etc. The Regency scenario I'm running opens at the town's annual Michaelmas Ball, for example. So far I'd been using a few ambiences like Elegant Dinner Party or Royal Salon then overlaying them with some period-appropriate dance music from Youtube. Anyway, if the muse takes you I was hoping you might make a track for a ballroom or dance someday. Thank you so much for making all of this. They're been so good to have in the background for my games.

I get it when you sue french horn its almost impossible for a track not to feel regal. Nice Job. Its a great musical journey. Thank you!
