New Ambience: The Murky Depths

Greetings Patrons,

My idea for this one was an underground environment that was intensely humid, and bursting with life. I imagined tribes of indigenous hunter gatherers scouting for copious flora and fauna. Small bands of raiders attacking other settlements for resources or to secure better hunting grounds. Occasionally a small band of adventurers from topside would find their way down. Maybe it had to do with the cavern full of sparkling red stones?

The ambience here is different than most underground/cavernous locations. Those are usually desolate and barren. In The Murky Depths you can feel the ground moving under your feet, plants growing almost visibly in the dim filtered light.

The music is an atmospheric blend of low drums and metallic percussion performed in a way that's more ambient than rhythmic. It's other worldly, but not quite alien. Occasional voices and low woodwinds pierce the wash of sound to create an organic feel. I think the music only version would make a good background for a wide variety of genres, including sci-fi and horror.

As this track is in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version of the track (live on the site next week) as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions. Additionally, I created two 'less murk' versions which remove some of the loamy squelch and stream sounds, creating a more traditional underground atmosphere.
