New Ambience: Lava King's Lair

Greetings Patrons,

I was playing around designing a rumble sound last week. I thought it came out pretty well so I designed an entire track around it.

Lava King is a boss. Like all bosses who live in subterranean caverns, he's mean - but also a bit lonely. He really (really) looks forward to visitors. He doesn't treat them very well though. He's a bit of a jerk actually.

The ambience here is the aforementioned rumble sound, plus various bubbly, viscous liquids that sounded molten. I created the Lava King's voice with my own (plus a ton of effects) and piped some rock smashes/liquid hits through the same effect chain for his footsteps.

Musically, this is powerful low strings, scraped metals, massive low thumps, overblown brass and a bit of basso profundo choir. Oh, and synths. It's not necessarily an action track - but it isn't not one either.

As this track is in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed track, as well as music-only versions here. Additionally, I created two 'No King' versions which remove the central character and leave the lava cavern. I hope you find these useful additions.

Housekeeping Update: Next week there will be no track as I'll be bracing for the imminent arrival of family and cooking etc. I'm not entirely sure If there will be another by the end of the year but I'll keep you posted. I'd like to at least get another remastered SoundPad finished.

Thank you all for joining me in 2024, I could not do any of this without your support.

Best,

Tim

A couple of ways: The easiest, but not very thorough is to use the search bar on the TTA home page. This connects with a small 'dictionary' that has some basic descriptions. It's far from complete but I basically pick 8-12 words for every track. A MUCH more complete resource is from Twitch streamer Koibu (Neal) who has an online spreadsheet that he generously shares: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Pn4zBP-aTzh59YznbOD8WBb21p3XpdC3WGifQDYvI-c/edit?gid=1131104914#gid=1131104914

Thanks for the new soundtrack, sounds great. A question that I don't know where else to post: is there a way to search by emotional mood? Bright, Action, sad, foreboding, spooky, etc. These categories may be as helpful to GMs as "Fantasy, SciFi" etc. Thanks!
