New Ambience: Tech Market

Greetings Patrons,

As a longtime resident of New York CIty, I have an affinity for urban environments. They're not always the easiest places to live, but they do seem to offer occasional surprises that I feel like I wouldn't see in suburbia. Obviously, the country has it's own set of surprises!

Underground economies are interesting. Markets that emerge organically because there's a need, or because someone just has something to sell. Sometimes they're the obvious ones, and sometimes it's just soup. Once I was jogging over the Manhattan bridge, from Brooklyn to Chinatown in Manhattan. Just before the end of the span, the footpath curves around before ending at Canal Street. It was here I saw about 10 elderly women, each with a small cook stove, stirring a pot, a small line of people waiting.

Tech Market is a place like this. It started small; a couple of stands. Some sold scavanged bits from discarded machines, some sold repair services or modifications. Eventually it became known as a place to go for x, y or z. Other vendors popped up. Some relocated. It was out of the way, under a bridge, the city didn't care.

The ambience here is field recordings for China Town, some mine, some library sounds, layered with traffic (real and designed) and various tech noises and experiments.

Musically, this is mostly synths but much of the percussion is organic. I liked the combination.

As this is in Patreon sneak-peak mode, I've included the mixed version (live on the site next week), as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions here for patrons. Additionally, I created a couple of 'No Rain' versions . The mixed version of this is pretty subtle. There's also an ambience-only version that has a lot of the heavier traffic as well as the rain removed leaving mostly a market. I hope you find these useful additions.
