New Ambience: Dungeon Asylum

Greetings Patrons,

This started out as a funny thought: What if you, the dungeon master, had a bestiary of creatures at your disposal that were simply too unhinged to function properly. They refused to adhere to their stat blocks. They moved when and where they wanted. Sometimes they just yelled things. Sometimes they sat on the floor and drew grotesque pictures with their claws. Sometimes they went totally berserk. You would probably not put any of these monsters in a normal dungeon, you'd stash them away somewhere dark until you could figure out what to do with them. And then, maybe you'd forgot about them..

The more I thought about this, the less amusing, and scarier it got. So naturally, I had to make the music pretty frightening. Loads of aleatoric strings, clanging metal percussion, and various scraped and bowed objects around the studio. Then there's an almost action part where the track becomes more rhythmic (more on that in a sec).

As this is in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version (live on the site next week), as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions here. Additionally, I created 2 'no inmate' versions which remove the monsters and leave you with an empty dungeon (where did they all go? that can't be good...) Finally, I liked the aforementioned drum section, so I isolated it into a short action-loop. There are 2 versions - .ogg and .mp3 which are identical so choose whichever works for you (.ogg loops better in general). I hope you find these useful.

As you may have guessed, this will end up being my Halloween track for 2024.
