Greetings Patrons,
Something happens to my brain when I hear a few notes played on the vibraphone. It goes straight back in time and I start seeing everything in black and white.
To that end, I embraced this vibe (oof, terrible unintended pun) and created a classic hotel lobby in the film noir tradition. It's in some city in the early 20th century. It doesn't really matter where, as long as it's in black and white. People mill about. Some are relaxed and reading newspapers, some are drinking, most are watching. One man in particular seems very interested in another man's briefcase...
The music here is cinematic underscore. A bit of John Barry, a bit of Goldsmith and a bit of me just chucking things in because it sounded cool.
The ambience is a medium sized crowd in a hotel lobby. Sounds from the city outside filter in. Elevator doors open and close, the front desk checks people in and out. A couple of people pace in the foreground.
As this is in sneak-peek mode, I've attached the mixed version (live on the site next week), as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions here for patrons. Additionally, I created 2 'After Hours' versions, which remove most of the crowd walla (unintelligible background vocals in sound-design speak) and replace it with room-tone.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
Travis B.
