New Ambience: Fire Dance

Greetings Patrons,

The first hints of autumn are descending on New York City and I do love a bonfire in the cool evenings (not in the city, of course). Which is to say, I was thinking about fires when I created this tribal/pagan/ritual track of a group of revelers around a large fire pit. I was probably also remembering the great Killing Joke video for their song Let's All Go (to the Fire Dances)

There could be many reasons for this dance. A drug-fueled vision quest, a funeral, a pre-battle spirit summoning, or any number of other things people get up to the woods. It could certainly be viking themed, but it doesn't have to be.

I played lots of acoustic instruments (drums, percussion, tagelharpa, viola, voice) for this, as it felt appropriate, but I also didn't shy from adding modern sound-design elements to push it further. It ended up in a psychedelic place pretty quickly. There's also definitely a nightmare/horror vibe to this.

The ambience has the fire of course, plus some various torch whooshes and bone charms, as well as a forest/jungle ambience. Technically I could have put the chanting into the ambience but I thought it made more sense to keep it with the music.

As this track is in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've attached the mixed-version, as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions of the track. Additionally, I created 2 'no wildlife' versions which remove some of the distant bird/animal sounds which could make this track work in non arboreal environments or even indoors.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

Love this one so much, it's so evocative! Did you do the chanting sounds yourself, or are they digital?

Excellent new track, Tim! Thank you! I have a playlist called "fire pit" that I use in the spring and fall when I'm sitting by the fire pit and daydreaming (ev'n-dreaming?) fantastic things. Some tracks are of course fire-related (e.g., Blacksmith Shoppe, Forge of Fury) but far from all. Among the best for fire pit dreaming are the Orrery, Desert Temple, Viking Village, Moisture Farm... and now Fire Dance! Thank you for sharing this splendid enterprise of yours. No question, it enhances D&D games. But ever since I was introduced to TabletopAudio a few years ago by friends, it's been part of the background of much of my life. I wish you and everyone much happy fire pit ev'n-dreaming. --Floyd

When I release new Patreon tracks, the previous week's release goes live on the site as well as on Moulinette. I'm not sure how often Moulinette polls for new content, but it should be fairly quick. For the alternate tracks, those are added by hand via Moulinette so that can lag a bit but still fairly prompt. You can always reach out to Sven and get a more detailed answer! - Tim

I use your music (love it btw) through Moulinette. How long does it take for this kind of release to appear via that?
