New Ambience: Imperial Pursuit

Edit: Fixed the double 'no troopers' file and replaced one with Amb-only no troopers.

Greetings Patrons,

This is one of those tracks that I've had in the works for a few months. I liked it originally, and then I didn't. I'd let it be for a week, then listen to it again, change things, add things, delete things - repeat.

Last week I opened it again and was finally able to zero in on what was making it not work for me. I removed a bunch of instruments and then moved some lines around to different orchestral sections until it finally seemed like something I could go to tweak-town on.

I started this as a John Williams-esque track but it gradually morphed out of being pure pastiche and developed more of its own personality. The vibe is definitely action/chase oriented but as with a lot of these types of track, I do like to ebb the intensity a bit, even if just to bring it back.

I set the ambience in the Not Deathstar™ with the point of view of a person, or persons escaping from legions of Not Stormtroopers™. It's a bit of a hide and seek, with periods of calm as you hide around corners, punctuated by full-on sprints down the corridors. Distant shouts, gunfire, droids and various computer sounds let you know that you're just out of reach.

The music is purely orchestral (no synths were tortured during the making of this piece), so it should make a fine action/chase set piece across a variety of genres.

As this track is in Patreon sneak-peek mode (live on the site next week), I've included the mixed version, as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions of this track here. Additionally, I included 2 'no-trooper' versions that remove the marching, comms and gunfire. The distant shouting remains. You are still being hunted, they're just further away!

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

Good to know. I'll do my part & NAG. Thanks for all you do, Tim!

I'm sorry, I wish I had control over this. I give them everything on release and they still have a big backlog. The more people nagging them about this the better! - Tim

This is awesome! When you gotta get this plugged into Roll20?

So uh... any chance there is anything in that beautiful mind of yours that would go well with a Discworld campaign? I know it's a bit niche and probably not worth it but, never hurts to ask :)

Just caught up on the latest tracks, and as always they are amazing work. I use them not just for games, but as a background soundtrack to whenever I'm writing. Awesome stuff!

Vince Hunt

I love all of your stuff and use your tracks all the time in my games. I'm hoping that you would do a track that could be set in the City of Sharn in the world of Eberron soon; call it City of Towers or something like that.

Carl Swan

Thanks, fixed!

There appear to be two copies of 'No Troopers' uploaded? Or at least, two with the same file name.

Love this, thank you for more scifi content!
