New Ambience: Bug Hunt

Greetings Patrons,

Before I introduce the latest track, I wanted to let you know that I'll be off next week for my annual beach holiday with the family, so there will be no release next Wednesday.

Also, the Bleakwater Docks SoundPad has been released to the public, so share away. I'll try and get the tracks added to Custom SoundPad before I leave.

The latest Ambience, Bug Hunt, is of course inspired by the Alien series. It's a gritty space horror scenario of claustrophobic spaces, old tech and barely visible creatures roaming the periphery.

I would say that this is more Aliens than Alien in that it's more of an action set piece than pure nail-biting suspense, although there's definitely some dread!

Musically this is hybrid cinematic. Orchestral brass give only the briefest hint of tonality, while the strings are either pulsing (celli/bass), or glitching and cascading (violins/violas). Synths are all over the place as well with lots of random blasts and warped sequences. I even moved a couple of synth tracks to ambience duty as I thought they worked better there.

The ambience is classic sci-fi horror sound design. Metal grating, dot matrix printers, old school computer bleeps (also bloops) and of course some warped vocalizations where I get make weird noises into a microphone.

As this track is in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've attached the mixed version, as well as music-only and ambience-only versions to this post. Additionally, I created a no-bugs version of the mixed and ambient tracks and also created a no-bugs, no-footsteps version of the ambience which might be useful for generic derelict craft/hyper-sleep types of scenarios.
