New Ambience: Ghost Ship

Greetings Patrons,

Sailors have always been a superstitious bunch. Life at sea in a confined space can do that to a person I suppose. Nothing spooks a sailor like a ghost ship though.

Technically the term "Ghost Ship" means two things: The first is phantom ship, like the legendary Flying Dutchman, doomed to sail the seas forever and never to make port. The second is derelict ship, or a vessel found adrift with no living crew.

This track attempts to be both of those possibilities. The ambience is of a listing ship in calm seas. The rigging is loose, and the sails are in tatters.

Musically this is almost devoid of tonality. Instead, multiple rhythmic elements (mostly tuned/resonant percussion) are combined with heavily effected, noise-based synths to create an unnerving atmosphere.

Additionally, I created 2 "No Ghosts" versions which remove the subtle, eerie aspects of the ambience. This turns it more effectively into a derelict vessel scenario. I hope you find these useful additions.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

Add this on to drowned sailors, whirlpool and the ship chase collection

When I read "Technically the term 'Ghost Ship' means two things", it reminded me of "Are 'ghost pirates' the ghosts of dead pirates or ordinary ghosts who've turned to piracy?".

But, how can you fight something that isn't really there? ;)

I'm going to take this as a sign to have my DM have us fight a ghost ship
