Greetings Patrons,
As many of you know, I'm always interested in minor locations and liminal spaces. Most of our time in games happens outside of combat. I love an epic set piece as much as the next gamer, but it's the simple locations and quieter spaces that often invite us to do the best story telling and character development. You know the barbarian fighter performs admirably when surrounded by goblins, but remember that time you were in line at the bank and he told you he was scared of spiders?
Counting House is one of those spaces. On the surface, it's where you go to change money, sell a piece of loot, or get a loan for a new property. But it could be so much more. Perhaps you need to break in an liberate some coin? Maybe you've been hired to protect it? Maybe there's a room upstairs that no one has gone into for years. Let's not even talk about the storage vaults below..
Musically this is very low key. It's harp, flute, voices, drums, dulcimers and a few other things. It's easy going and flows along. It would make a fine generic fantasy track for a number of scenarios.
The ambience here is a large opulent space. It's the kind of counting house you'd expect to find in a large fantasy city. Marble floors, desks with balance scales, abacuses and piles of coin. It's not Gringotts, but it could be.
As this track is in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version, as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions here, for patrons. Additionally, I created 2 'after hours' versions that remove the foreground activity and a lot of the background walla (voices). There are still people here but it's more like they're locking the vaults, closing the gates and tidying up after the day is over. I hope you find these useful additions.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
