Greetings Patrons,
Or should I say, Ahoy! This week's ambience takes us to sea in a fast, sturdy ship. This is one of those tracks where the music decided what the eventual ambience was going to be. A few days into it I began thinking it sounded vaguely militaristic, and more specifically, naval. I can't actually describe what that means musically, perhaps it was because the earliest versions were all extremely drum-centric.
As I added more instruments, the drums in their original state, made less sense. It was way too busy. Remembering the lesson that I re-learn every single day, if you want to make a thing better, take something away. Once the drums were removed I could finally hear the orchestration (or lack thereof) and start fixing it. I then added a sparser rhythm track that didn't overwhelm the music as much.
The ambience is wind, waves, rope, cloth and wood - just as Lord Nelson commanded.
As this track is in Patreon sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed version, as well as ambience-only and music-only versions of the track here, for patrons. Additionally, I created a mixed and ambience 'storm' version. Not really a full-on storm, consider it more of a heavy seas and a bit of weather variation.
The music track on it's own will work across a variety of genres as an action or adventuring background.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
