Greetings Patrons,
This is the story of a fighter, so confident in their ability that they decided to derail the entire plot of your story, just so they could enter a winner-take-all, one-on-one competition in the underground pit fighting circuit.
Or something like that...
This was an idea I got when I was trying to remember which Star Trek Voyager episode "The Rock" was on. (I debated whether or not to share this with you all!)
Although this is an action-style scene, I like it as a set piece because it can be used either as a backdrop - i.e. you are in town to meet an underworld crime boss, he's in his box at the pit-fighting match. Or, first-person: You are the pit-fighter and you are here for any number of reasons: money, revenge, glory, punishment, promise, etc.
Musically this is big percussion and low strings. The music ebbs and flows with the action in the ring. The ambience is fight sounds, plus crowd noise/reactions. I wanted to be dark and gritty, so it's smaller in scale than a massive daytime colosseum setting.
When I had finished designing the fighters I thought about adding lions to the mix. But, I found when I had them all together it felt a bit much. Having just the lions worked well and you can imagine that perhaps the fighters are shall we say, unfortunately unarmed? In any case, I liked the way those versions came out so I included them.
As this is in Patron-only sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed-version of the track (live on the site next week) as well as ambience-only, and music-only versions. Additionally, I've added a mixed-version as well as an ambience-only version using the lions. I hope you find these useful.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
