New Ambience: Hydroponics Bay

Greetings Patrons,

I've always loved the idea of greenhouses on spaceships. From the 1972 film "Silent Running", to "Sunshine" (2007), to "Passengers" (2016). Even if the film isn't about growing plants specifically, I love the idea of a space for growing food or cultivating alien botany.

The title Hydroponics Bay is a nod to Star Trek, obviously, but this track isn't really Trek-themed as it's a bit more abstract. Possibly even sinister. In this greenhouse, many of the vines are alive and you can hear them stretching to find new purchase on the walls, ceiling, and fixtures. Whether or not this is a bad thing is entirely up to you.

Musically this is a hybrid of  synths, orchestral strings and brass (played a bit like synths) and some wind-chimes. I also used some synths in the ambience portion to create the subtle engine throb and general hum of the bay's systems. The ambience also features an irrigation system and a lone scientist making their rounds among the various monitoring stations.

As this is in patron-only sneak-peek mode, I've included the mixed track (live on the site next week), as well as ambience-only and music-only versions. Additionally, I've created a mixed version, as well as an ambience-only version without the footsteps in case you need to be alone in this room.

I've found that this one really shines if you play it quietly.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

maybe give "Waiting Time" a try? It's more fantasy themed, but the intent may work. - Tim

Do you have a corporate music? Like a soul crushingly relentless tune that goes nowhere, just a background noise to really drive home the soulless hellscape that is the corporate productivity. Something to chip away at the players' patience as they watch the business of widgets being done. Thinking for AbadarCorp
