Greetings Patrons,
This week's track features a setting inspired by the new D&D starter set, Dragons of Stormwreck Isle. The drowned sailor/zombie trope is fairly common in fantasy games and as soon as I read it I knew it would make for a useful ambience.
At its heart (or lack thereof!) it's a beach scene. But then add some zombies shambling toward you and it becomes, shall we say, less idyllic?
This track is in sneak-peek mode on the site (live next week) so I've included the final mixed track, here. Additionally, I've created a few variations that I think will make it more flexible. There's both a mixed version, and an ambience-only version without sailors. There's also the traditional ambience-only and music-only version of this track. This might be useful if your party wants to return to the same beach after you've dispatched the zombies - sorry - sailors. I hope you find these useful additions.
Musically, this would make a good flexible battle track. Nothing too epic, but lots of percussion and plucked strings should keep the action going. Once again, I've discovered that recording an unplugged, semi-hollow body electric guitar with a microphone makes a great substitute sound for more traditional instruments, like a saz (I still kind of want an actual saz though).
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
