Greeting Patrons,
This week's ambience takes us into the dystopian future of cyberpunk. A teeming mass of humanity is forced to live in close quarters and eke out a living. This trope is central to cyberpunk. The melding of technology, multiculturalism, and both high and low tech. Here, the only market is the black market, and the only hustle is the side hustle. It serves as a grim reminder of what could be, but also of humanity's ability to adapt and endure.
Or, maybe I just wanted to play with synths!
The ambience here isn't exactly street-level. It's more like it is in the image above, removed, above and looking down. It's big-picture. The sounds of the street blend in with air traffic and with the occasional blasts from massive generators.
Musically it's fairly peaceful, albeit a bit abstract. I think it would work nicely in a variety of sci-fi, or even modern settings.
My usual go-to with this type of setting is to add rain. But this time, I decided against adding it to the main track. I did do an alternate version with rain which I've included here, for patrons. So in addition to the mixed-track (in sneak-peek mode, live on the site next week), I've uploaded a mixed-track +rain, a music-only track and 2 ambience-only tracks. One of which has rain in it. I hope you find these useful.
Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
