New Ambience: Desert Temple

Greetings Patrons,

I began working on this as an exploration of some new percussion. A simple frame drum and bells in an almost arrhythmic pattern.  I knew it was a desert scene after a few bars but I wanted to do something different than the classic duduk + vocal melody (which is classic for good reason!). Some interesting hybrid drones and processed woodwinds and string plucks round out the instrumentation.

As sometimes happens, I noticed during the final master that something was bothering me. There were large sections of the ambience with semi-loud bird sounds. I thought, mmmaybe? And then, it happened - my brain said 'those sound like ducks', and that was it. I couldn't un-hear it. So I went back and edited out all but the faintest of wildlife sounds. My brain was much happier.

This track is in sneak-peek mode on the site, so I've attached the mixed version (on the site next week), as well as music-only, and ambience-only versions. I hope you find these useful.

Thank you all, as always, for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

I love it. (Even though it has no ducks :-) )

Love the subtle rhythm in this. I think it will also work as a Desert Travel ambience. Although I WAS just thinking "this piece could really do with some ducks"
