New Ambience: Temple Garden

I had a request from a few months ago for an 'Asian themed' garden and thought this would be a good track to work on this week.
As I started to play around with some ideas I realized that the traditional, and frankly overused, koto and shakuhachi style arrangements were making my eyes roll a bit. After all, I didn't want to make a parody of a Temple Garden.
I stripped it down to some lovely synth parts that all had a slightly bell-like quality to them. I found that the track flowed much better and also had the advantage of being more flexible for use in other types of settings.
I've included a music-only version of this track that will work as a floaty, spacey overlay to almost any environment.

2020-05-23 23:41:56 +0000 UTCSome of the synth sounds incorporate some highly processed and manipulated field recordings, so yes, there are some natural elements to these sounds which may bleed through, but the actual straight-up environment sounds have been removed. Good ears!

2020-04-29 20:38:47 +0000 UTCI'm sure I'll do more, but they'll never be authentic because...well, me. And, to be clear, I think the koto and shakuhachi (and guqin etc) are all fabulous instruments! They can however, often be overused as shorthand (lazy) descriptors of cultures.
