Amazon Alexa Translation Help

Greetings Patrons,

I'm trying to get the Tabletop Audio Alexa skill published in non-English markets and Amazon is very particular about making sure that every utterance and invocation is properly translated. I'm going to attempt to keep the titles and flavor text in English if they'll let me, otherwise that's a much bigger job and a bit more work each time a new track is uploaded.

So, I'm hoping some of you non-native English speakers can help me with a small translation project. It would maybe be helpful if you had an Alexa device but I don't think it's necessary.

I've created 6 Google Spreadsheets, linked below.

Since anyone with the link can view/edit them, maybe chime in below if you're interested in working on one. That way we don't have multiple people erasing each other's work! I'm not sure if there's a better way to do this. I couldn't see how to check in/out sheets.

Note: There are 2 sheets for Spanish - one for the Mexican/Latin American market (MX) and one for Spain (ES). This is an Amazon thing so the 2 may be very similar or even exactly the same, but they still need the 2.

I would guess it would take about 15-20 minutes to do.

Note#2: If you see words in brackets like {Track} - simply add this into your translation, but don't translate the word in the brackets. That's just Alexa code.

Just to be clear, I'm not 100% sure that Amazon will let me keep the English titles of the tracks but regardless, this is the first step. Also, I am not personally working on this skill. A friend of the site who has graciously offered his time is. These sheets will be going to him for the next phase!

Please check the comments to see if someone is already working on the track before starting! Also, add a comment if you are working on it :)

Thanks in advance! Fingers crossed this works.

Best,

Tim

Thank you for this. I'll definitely keep it in mind if this becomes a frequent thing.

Maybe you could consider some sort of translation platform in the future? They allow everyone to submit suggestions, integrate with your software repository and much more... It would be possible for you publishing a new sound environment and translators automatically receiving a notification that there's something new to translate. :) There are "cloud", self-hosted, commercial and open source ones, in any combination. Without preference, I know about e.g. "Pootle", "Weblate" and "locize".

Merci Franck! I believe it's French from France as according to Amazon, Canada is an English speaking market. (Sorry Quebec!).

I can get started on the French tonight. Do you need French from France or French from Canada? I can do either.

Gracias Manuel! You can open the file and request edit permission.

Hi Tim! I don't have an Alexa device but I'm willing to help you with the Spanish (ES) translation. I would have them double checked after I'm finished but I'm confident I can accurately translate most of them.
