I got a request for an elegant steamship ambience recently and it got me thinking about what a great setting that could be. I decided that any old steamship wasn't going to cut it however, so I went with the steamship. The RMS Titanic. (Pre-iceberg!)
What's so great about this location is that you could really do an entire series of sounds based on the class divisions within the ship. The crew quarters, the engine room, the kitchens, the first, second, third class areas on and on. It's society in a can. A kind of Noah's Ark of early 20th century humanity.
For this one though, I decided that the first class deck area would be a good choice. I imagined an after dinner stroll along the deck, while music from a string quartet wafts in an out. The string quartet here is Mozart's Quartet No 14 in G Major (K387) played by the Borromeo String Quartet at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and is in the public domain.
I've included a version of just the ambience for Patreon patrons who prefer a silent stroll along the deck or may want to supplement with other music.
Thank you all for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
