Greeting Patrons,
Many of you know by now that I'm intrigued by sonic environments that hold many stories. These aren't always iconic locations or epic encounters. A background sound should inspire ideas, bring up images, hint at action but not fully describe it.
I had a request a few weeks ago from a DM who was planning on creating a scenario in which a child goes missing in a busy location. As it was a fantasy game I thought the idea of a medieval fair sounded like the right backdrop.
The medieval fair was a hugely important economic event in the life of towns and cities. Merchants and entertainers (and a fair share of ne'er-do-wells) gathered in a single location for a period of time. It was exciting, exotic and had the air of being both glamorous and seedy at the same time.
For this piece I assembled dozens of chaotic little sonic tidbits that float into the ears of a visitor. There is a hurdy gurdy band that plays a few numbers but I included a version for patrons that leaves this out in case you have other musical ideas.
While this was designed as a medieval period track, there's nothing here that would be too out of place in other times.
Thank you, as always, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
