Greetings Patrons,
Happy New Year! I got back from my holiday travels with a new SoundPad in mind and I couldn't wait to get started on it. This is the 3rd in the combat series and is a more macro, zoomed-out look at medieval warfare. Specifically, the siege.
I spent a week or so fast forwarding through various films that depicted city/castle sieges and rewinding many, many different sections. YouTube videos provided some excellent details on the mechanics of siege engines. If you're interested, the Discovery UK series with Dan Snow has some great short videos of working weapons and tools. As is often the case however, the sounds of the actual things weren't as impressive as I'd hoped, so I designed everything from scratch to be more film-like than realistic.
The SoundPad takes the basic phases of a siege, from a pre-dawn army waiting in the distance, to soldiers and to the full on assault. There are 3 musical loops that should help add some flavor, also the 3 tones can be used together or separately. (Try the drum tone with the music track 'mournful' for a variation).
With the new frequency timer feature it's quite easy to set up complex soundscapes without having to do too much button pressing.
This is in patron-only preview mode as I'm still making some small tweaks. It's not linked from any of the main menus yet. Please share with family/friends but not with the internet at large until it's officially 'live'. Link is below.
Thank you all for your continuing support!
best,
Tim
