New SoundPad Feature Preview

Greetings Patrons,

I've been working on a new SoundPad feature that's almost finished, so I made a test page for you to play around with it before it gets rolled out on the site. The feature is time frequency/intervals for one shot sounds, allowing for more complex, nuanced scenes without having to manually click a bunch events.

As always, my main challenge is balancing between increased control and ease of use. With every new feature I try and make it as easy as possible to understand and use. If you enjoy SoundPads just the way they are, then you'll only notice a small new icon that won't interfere with the interface you're used to. If you've been waiting for this feature, hopefully you'll already know how to use it.

please note, this is a temporary URL and will be deleted when the features go live. Also, this is just for Patrons and their families/gaming groups so please don't share with the Internet as development is ongoing. Thanks!

SoundPad Frequency Timer Preview

Thanks so much for your continuing support.

Best,

Tim

P.S. Regarding mobile browsers - as soon as the screen turns off, timers go away. This is a security feature that makes it so malicious companies can't blast audio ads to you 30 minutes after you visited their site. It's a good thing! So, if you're on mobile, you'll need to set your device to 'always on'.

This will stay live until it’s available everywhere.

Love this!

Tones are usually loops so many of them wouldn’t sound good as one shots. I’ll definitely play around with it though.

Tabletop Audio

Do you think you will extend the timer feature to tones? Also, please add my vote for preference of smaller intervals like 10/30 seconds instead of larger intervals like 15/30 minutes.

Myron Dietz

Love the new feature. Hopefully it'll be live or the test page will still be active at my next session! Thank you so much for all your hard work!

In Custom SoundPad, click on the "Sort Off" button to turn on the editing/sorting. Now you can rearrange and delete sounds straight from the UI.

Tabletop Audio

It is working for me. Something that would be helpful on the UI is a small x on each sound to remove it from the custom sound pad instead of having to find it in the left sound menu.

Myron Dietz

This seems like a very cool feature and useful also.

Miska Fredman

Very cool feature. Seems to work well!

Another interesting choice would be to have a "random" value that would pick one of the available values in the dropdown menu with every repetition of the sound clip.

Franck Florentin

I considered this, trying to keep the dropdown list small. I'll make a note and if more people want it, I'll add it. - Tim

I love this! thank you! Could we get a 30 second timer too?

They start when the time is selected, however there is an offset of up to 1/4 of the time added to each time. So a 1 minute sound has a potentially 15 second offset added to it, and a 30 minute time has 7 minute offset. This way, when a scene is loaded with similar intervals, they don't all play exactly the same time. So yes, if you select times a minute apart, their clocks are a minute apart, plus whatever offset is added. When you load the scene, both 5 minute sounds will start their clocks together, but will be offset by up to 90 seconds.

Tabletop Audio

Do the frequency loops start when you select the time or is there a internal "clock" that it gets added to? Meaning: if I set sound A for 5 minutes, then a minute later set Sound B for 5 minutes, will they continue to be a minute apart over time, or do they end up both hitting on a designated fifth minute of playing. If it is the former, does it get changed to the latter when you save the scene and load it up later?

Amazing!!!

Apologies! I really should have checked the link. Here it is: https://tabletopaudio.com/house_on_the_hill_freq.html

Uhh... The target url is unavailable. Am I the only one with this issue?
