New Ambience: Nostromo

Greetings Patrons,

I thought I'd get an early jump on this year's Halloween ambience. A bit of a departure this time as it's definitely sci-fi flavored. This was one of those tracks that took form as I was working on something else. To be honest, I can't even remember what it started out as. But, as often happens, some sound will trigger a memory and I'll just chase it. In this case, I was using a flute as a minimalist accent when I recalled Jerry Goldsmith's Alien score.

After watching the introduction to that movie a few dozen times it really struck me how low-tech the sound design is,by today's standards. All those CRTs coming online, the classic, text-on-screen sound that we still have to have today, teletype machines maybe? I tried to recreate some of that 1979 'high tech' feel which to me makes that film even more creepy today.

It's possible that I may do another Halloween themed track before the month is over, but I wanted to give everyone plenty of time to prepare their games and stories for the big day.

I've included here a patron-only version with just the ambience for added flexibility.
