New Ambience: Elegant Dinner Party

Greetings Patrons,

Hope everyone is having a great July. I'm in the midst of my yearly 2 week stint as a violin/viola coach at a chamber music camp here in Brooklyn. It's a 6 hour day helping kids with quartet parts and chamber orchestra music but it's always great fun. And - I'm usually home by 4pm so I still get some time to be in the studio for a few hours in the evenings.

I was recently re-watching the first season of Downton Abbey and I have to say, some of my favorite scenes happen around the dinner table. Everyone is dressed to the nines, and the conversation ranges from polite banter to downright hostility -all delivered with politeness and decorum.

This new ambience, Elegant Dinner Party is my version of one of these scenes. I went over and over this one, adding and removing things until I thought I had the right balance of background activities, over which the foreground conversation could sit. Whispers of conversation, waiters silently clearing dishes and pouring wine. I hope you'll find lots of stories in this one.

Elegant Dinner Party is a pretty quiet track by design, but don't be afraid to turn it down even more, depending on your environment.  Jane Austen type stories, high society gatherings, anything that revels in social combat and intrigue will benefit from scenes like this.

I added light piano music as I felt it glued things together a bit and made it more cinematic, but I've included an ambience only version here for those of you who want to add your own music. (Extra points if you use a real Victrola!)

Thank you all for your continuing support of this site.

best,

Tim

I love the whispers in this ambience. Twice now, I have turned my head because I thought someone is talking to me IRL. Great!! They would be great for a quiet formal/social setting (meeting in a throne room) with occasional shuffling robes or a muffled cough.

I was just going to bug you about another social/tavern-style thing, and here it is! This can be used for a lot of stuff depending on how one sets the scene. It can be high society, but also any number of gathering spots where everyone's a little more serious. Great job!!!
