I’m 22 and I have both an 11 and 12 year-old sisters whom are in the seventh grade, although it doesn’t feel like I graduated that long ago our childhood couldn’t be any more different. Same as you Blake half the things spoken about in this episode I was totally unaware of at that age. when I was in the seventh grade I was busy worrying about catching the next episode of The fosters , scrapbooking, and making up dance routines with my cousins. Kids are exposed to so much more which only matures them faster. It’s easy to forget that not everyone runs their household the same way you do. My mother doesn’t believe in sleepovers or staying out past 8 o’clock if it’s not a school function, but my sisters know plenty of kids who wander around town well past 10pm. Some of the conversations these kids have you’d think they were between adults. What I think is most sad is that I genuinely don’t believe that they understand and grasp the gravity of their actions and the words that they say. When rape and sodomy becomes the butt of a joke or saying the N-word to get a couple laughs conversations needs to be had. Just for reference I live in a suburban town in PA so these kids are well off, good families, with good grades just like Jamie but unfortunately they consume really harmful content and think it’s ok.

I don’t think it was weird at all having this conversation with a 13 year old. This is reality, unfortunately. Jamie explained to Briony in detail how he victimized and planned to use another child because he knew she was at her weakest. That shows an understanding and it shows intent. That along with him saying that he didn’t touch her but he could have. “Most guys would have”. That’s all the context needed right there. Like Corey said, he has no respect for women. He thinks men are superior and he felt entitled to do whatever he wanted to Katie. There are so many male influencers who teach toxic masculinity and it’s scary. I think the whole point of this show is to bring awareness to that.
