Also, Mary Shelley started writing Frankenstein when she was only 18 years old! It was published when she was 20. SPOILERS FOR THE NOVEL COMING: By the way, in the novel, Elizabeth is raised with Victor and becomes his fiancée. Victor's father isn't abusive. Victor isn't as hateful a man and the creature isn't quite as pure and sympathetic. It kills (among others) William and frames the maid, who is then executed. It murders Elizabeth out of revenge, on her and Victor's wedding night, and vows hatred for mankind. And, Victor dies on the ship before the creature finds him, so there is no final confrontation and no final forgiveness.
