Lexi is the best friend ever and I'm glad Elena at least has Ric to help her get through this. Werewolves have a healing factor that allows them to recover from injuries more quickly than humans, similar to vampires, but it's less effective for severe wounds and doesn't make them immune to fatal injuries like a broken neck. Their healing is also slower than vampires. Since Hayley was killed when her throat was slit and not just injured, she couldn't heal as a werewolf.
