I had just turned 15 when this came out, I remember watching it in my local cinema that was never busy, there was just myself and 3 friends and a older man on his own in the back, it certainly added to the creepy vibes, lol. This film was very successful when it came out and was a major influence for found footage movies and direct inspiration for paranormal activity.

2025-09-15 00:21:40 +0000 UTCNot a huge fan of found footage either, in general but I can definitely appreciate what this film did.. and although the βshakeyβ camera hugely annoyed me the first time I saw it, when I went home after watching it, and I was alone in the dark in bed, surrounded by woods, I got really creeped out and then thought about the film for days after that.. those are the most impactful films for me. So I can both like and dislike it at the same time.. I did see Blakeβs mic shaking at the end.. lol π

People truly thought that this was real. When the cast appeared on television a month or so after release, people were stunned. A majority of the acting/scenes are improvised which makes it even more impressive.
