I get that they wanted the drama, but I wish they had kept it closer to the book in regards to Edwina’s characterization and not have her fall for Anthony but instead actually pick up on Kate’s feelings for him. I thought they did her a disservice by making her so absurdly oblivious to the entire situation, honestly.

2025-02-04 01:04:22 +0000 UTCI’m really glad that you guys recognized that Edwina was the only adult in the room. I still can’t believe that after everything that happened between Kate and Anthony, Edwina was the only one with enough emotional maturity to call off the wedding.

2025-02-03 21:38:18 +0000 UTCI think the reason she’s harsher on Kate is because Kate is her sister so she expected honesty from her. She’s only known Anthony a few weeks so while his betrayal is awful, she’s known and loved Kate all her life. Also, Kate’s intentions don’t necessarily matter when you’ve just been humiliated in front of the entire ton and the Queen, at least in the immediate aftermath. I actually think Edwina was pretty reserved. From the outside it looks like Anthony and Kate have been playing her for a fool, and she doesn’t even know about all the times they almost kissed. Regardless of Kate’s intentions, it was a huge betrayal to her sister.

2025-02-03 21:29:19 +0000 UTCI love all the characters this season, but god I wish we hadn't had to have this love triangle with sisters going right up to the altar. I feel bad for both Kate and Edwina in this one, as although i understand his fear of love due to his past traumas, this is all Anthony's fault. Edwina is far harsher on her sister than is fair, as although she kept her feelings for him from her, she was willing to sacrifice her own future happiness and possible love to make sure Edwina was secure and taken care of. Plus, Kate made clear to Edwina at the start that Anthony couldn't give her love and he himself said that at that wooing party with all the men. All of a sudden Edwina starts suggesting she'd been misled on him loving her. She wasn't. Yet, I feel awful for the fact she ends up the collateral damage in Anthony's need to ignore his feelings. Ultimately, Kate and Anthony both focussed on family duty over themselves until it all went wrong. I really wish they'd had a different subplot, even though they all act this one well. Oh and I love that scene between Colin and Pen about purpose. one of my favourites in the show.

It is an excellent adaptation of Deborah Harkness's "Souls" Trilogy book set. It was very well cast, written, directed, produced, and filmed. You can definitely view it through Amazon or on Netflix.

Eloping wasn't something you could do in England. It's why Daphne/Simon needed a special license and Colin/Marina were going to run away to Scotland to get married because there were certain steps you had to take first.
