Twilight Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) Full Length

It’s not just the fans spinning it to justify it, it’s literally what the explanation of it that was given. He didn’t CHOOSE a baby. I’m not either justifying that the whole thing is weird to begin with, but that’s on the writer not really the fans. When I watch it I remind myself that it’s written in the way of innocence & involuntary. And it’s factual. Although obviously werewolves are not real, wolves DO imprint on some humans. In fact most dog breeds do as well. Obviously it’s different IRL as (hopefully) no one is hooking up with dogs. It’s still something that statistically happens. I also can’t help but think if the genders were reversed, not as many ppl would have an issue with it. They’d say she’s just being maternal 🫤. I just wish it was never even written that way that it even had a possibility of being negative, because it IS a beautiful story if it was truly innocent & just a platonic soulmate 😕

Mandie

Agreed that they should’ve really hammered down that fact for the ones that took it the wrong way. Also doesn’t help that when Sam imprinted, he got in a relationship with her still. I personally never saw anything wrong with it, IF it’s correct in the innocence of it & involuntarily. I just have to remind myself that it’s like a security guard type bonding

Mandie

Too many people misunderstand what imprinting means. It's an INVOLUNTARY response in which a wolf finds his soulmate. It is something that is beyond his control and the one he imprints on is actually the one in control. It happens the first time he sees the person he's imprinting on, which is why, if he had imprinted on Bella it would have had to be the first time he met her (more specifically: the first time he looked her in the eye). It can't be forced on anyone, no matter how much he may want it. He will become WHATEVER SHE NEEDS him to be, whether that's a lover, a friend or a brother, but above all, he is her protector. If the imprintee is an infant, as it is in this case, the shape-shifter will act as an older brother; romantic feelings will not develop until she comes of age (if they do). In that moment it's NOT in a romantic way. Later, however, it may become romantic. In this situation, Jacob was going to KILL Renesmee (which is horrible I know), until he imprinted on her. And because of the pact, the wolves can't hurt her. So, as messed up as it is, at least this way she is ALIVE and PROTECTED. So yeah, the idea of it is a bit creepy but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. They even spell out most of it in the movies. Jacob was originally very anti-imprinting for himself, like Leah was. He always saw it as just another life choice that was taken away from him. I also saw a theory that the reason Leah projected her pain so much onto the pack in Eclipse was to make Jacob understand that Edward may have left Bella once but you could also leave her too one day, and it wouldn't be your choice. After Edward left he was still able to come back, but if Jacob left Bella due to an imprint he never could go back. Which is why I think Jacob was a lot more chill with her after the battle in Eclipse, because he finally understood that the pain Leah was feeling as a result of Sam may one day be the pain Bella would feel as a result of Jacob if they pursued a relationship. Also, in the books he talks about how imprinting is very rare and he assumed he would never find someone to imprint on, that’s the main reason why he still pursued Bella. As more and more of the pack started to imprint he noted it was more common, but still figured it would never happen to him. Or if he did, it would be with her (like in Eclipse, when she says "Have you imprinted on someone?" and he says "You’d know if I had"). Jacob's main goal was to keep Bella human, not necessarily to destroy her relationship. He thought Edward was pushing her to become a vampire, but Edward was doing the exact opposite and that's what Jacob realised in the tent. Personally, I'm not a big fan of this aspect, but Jacob possibly being drawn to Bella because of Renesmee makes sense. A human baby girl is born with all the eggs she will ever have and those eggs are a part of that baby girl's possible/future children. This means that, technically, Renesmee has always been there inside her mum, including when Bella was hanging out with Jacob. If Bella has special abilities, then it follows that Renesmee also might have special abilities, even while she was still an unfertilised egg. While Bella was pregnant with Renesmee, she and Jacob felt even more drawn to each other. My assumption is that he WAS meant to imprint on Bella's possible special powers prevented him from doing so, but he still felt that extreme urge to be with her. And I also think that's why he imprinted on Renesmee, who was the first direct descendant of Bella. I love that Rosalie is the one who supported Bella's choice to have the baby. The fact that she always wanted to have kids, but can't (and to have a normal human life), makes her protective and motherly over the baby, so Bella knows she will protect them. I understand Edward's and even Jacob's feelings, they're just afraid of losing Bella, but they aren't respecting her choice. Bella's pregnancy lasted only 28 days, causing rapid growth. During the birth scene, the placenta must have detached and they are forced to give her a C-section, which is shown through Bella’s point of view. Edward bites her through the hard amniotic sac to get the baby out. Director Bill Condon chose not to show it because he felt having the audience experience it via sound effects and having Rob slightly out of frame made it more potent. He also felt it made the scene more special for viewers who have read the book. Afterwards, Bella is dying and despite Jacob's CPR support and Edward's venom, her heart stops beating. After Jacob, who has lost all hope, leaves, Edward injects his venom into Bella's heart and bites her in several places, maximising her odds of survival. The venom is supposed to be excruciating and make you feel like you're on fire. We see the internal stuggle of Bella being in pain but she isn't capable of showing it on the outside due to the morphine in her system. That's also why they aren't sure if the venom is working or not. Edward provides CPR himself which, combined with the venom, eventually results in Bella's heart recovering and her tranformation into a vampire. Also, the blood bags weren't for the Cullens, because it's human blood. They were for Bella and the baby, and if she needed a transfusion. Renesmee is Bella and Edward's mothers' names: Renée (Bella's mum) and Esme (Edward's mum). Also, in the book, her middle name is Carlie - after Charlie (Bella's dad) and Carlisle (Edward's dad). And the woman with Charlie is Sue Clearwater, widow of Harry (Charlie's friend who died of a heart attack in New Moon) and mother of Leah and Seth. Even though I'm not personally a fan of the Edward and Bella relationship, I love the aesthetic to their wedding and Bella's wedding dress. And if you're wondering how he got Bella pregnant when he's technically dead, Stephanie Meyer explained: "Like with vampire skin, which looks similar to human skin and has the same basic function, fluids closely related to seminal fluids still exist in male vampires which carry genetic information and are capable of bonding with a human ovum. Fun facts: All of the movies but the last two have different directors. Breaking Dawn Part 1 & 2 is directed by Bill Condon, who also directed/wrote/produced Chicago, Dreamgirls, 2017's Beauty and the Beast live-action and The Greatest Showman. Sofia Coppola was in talks to direct but allegedly she thought the whole imprinting-werewolf thing with the baby was too weird. Part 1 & 2 were also shot back-to-back as one whole movie. The first scenes shot were the honeymoon scenes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The last scenes shot were the wedding scenes (more specifically Jacob and Bella's scene at the wedding). IRL, Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) became a father between the two parts. Nikki Reed (Rosalie) is his son's godmother. The Isle Esme house had to be recreated on a sound stage in Baton Rouge, Louisiana due to production only having one week on location in Brazil. Most of the indoor honeymoon scenes were shot on the sound stage in Louisiana and not in Brazil. On the third day of filming in Brazil, the cast and crew got stranded overnight on the location used for Isle Esme due to a severe rain storm. The crew had to cover the furniture and props in the house with tarps to prevent water damage due to the rain and people having wet clothes. Filming of most of the exterior shots took place in Canada. While filming in Vancouver, the cast and crew were evacuated from the set due to the tsunami warnings resulting from the 9.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Japan on March 11th 2011. Filming relocated to Squamish, but a few scenes were shot in the Orpheum Theater with the Vancouver police covering all the entrances of the theater. It took 3 hours to apply all the make-up effects on Kristen to create Bella's emaciated appearance. Effects that couldn't be achieved with make-up were created digitally in post-production. Furthermore, Bella's body was prosthetic from the shoulders down in the birthing scene. There was an opening in the table so Kristen could comfortably lay down underneath the table top while still having her head and shoulders to be visible. To achieve movement of the prosthetic limbs a puppeteer was also under the table controlling the limbs. Meanwhile, the CGI baby is notoriously bad, but if you think that looks awful you ain't seen nothing yet! Originally they had an animatronic which they called Chuckesmee because it resembled Chucky. It TERRIFIED the actors on set and I understand why. Here is a BTS on it: https://youtu.be/7jOuy-HOcg8?si=9CdDEJYNkZ6LuTQw. Rob went through a strict diet and exercise regime for six months in preparation before filming. He stopped his routine after filming the sex scene. He also got boat driving lessons but he actually crashed the boat while filming the boat scene. AND he learned to speak some Portuguese for the scenes where Edward interacts with the housekeepers in Brazil. The original cut of Bella and Edward's wedding night sex scene was much raunchier and had to be reshot and edited to avoid giving the movie an R rating. They also had to done down the birth scene, believe it or not, which was much more graphic in the book. Stephenie Meyer handpicked Carolina Herrera to design Bella's wedding dress while costume designer Michael Wilkinson worked closely with Ashley Greene (Alice) and Nikki Reed (Rosalie) to design their bridesmaid dresses. Maggie Grace, who plays Irina (the pissed blonde woman from the wedding and Laurent's lover), played Ian Somerhalder's stepsister on LOST. If you don't know, Ian played a vampire on The Vampire Diaries AND he is married to Nikki Reed who plays Rosalie in Twilight. Maggie also played Liam Neeson's daughter in Taken. At around 13 mins: Stephenie Meyer can be seen as a guest at the wedding as Bella walks down the aisle (she also appeared in the first movie). She also produced Part 1 AND 2. The lead single of the soundtrack is Bruno Mars' It Will Rain. The second single is A Thousand Years by Christina Perri, which is Bella and Edward's love song. This is the first Twilight soundtrack not to feature a song from the band Muse. Mía Maestro who plays Carmen of the Denali clan had her song Llovera featured on the soundtrack. Evanescence expressed interest in doing a song on the soundtrack but were unsuccessful. They had also attempted to have songs in the first movie but Summit did not approve of the songs they presented. During their vows and first kiss as husband and wife, the song Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine plays. This is the same song they danced to at the prom at the end of the first movie. The song Cold by Aqualung and Lucy Schwartz on the soundtrack includes the lyrics "sing for the lion and lamb". A callback to a line from the first movie. Rob nearly caused the fanbase to combust when he revealed at a press conference that a real priest was used for the wedding scene, making him and Kristen legally married. That was false, however (I think he was just joking 😂). Bella and Edward playing chess with red and white pieces is a nod to the book cover. Story wise, it makes sense because Edward can’t read her mind so he doesn’t know what moves she makes until she makes them. No fun playing chess with others when you can read their mind 🤣 The opening scene in which Jacob receives Bella and Edward's wedding invitation is from the books, but it is actually the epilogue of Eclipse rather than the prologue of Breaking Dawn. When Bella eats chicken while Edward is away hunting, it's almost foreshadowing about the pregnancy because in all of the previous movies, she only ate vegetarian. When Jacob first enters the Cullen house to see Bella, she's wrapped in a quilt — the same quilt Bella's mum gave her in Eclipse. Crazy fact: Taylor Lautner practiced for months getting into character by looking at babies in the NICU at local hospitals 🤣 I love that Rosalie is the one who supported Bella's choice to have the baby. The fact that she always wanted to have kids, but can't (and to have a normal human life), makes her protective and motherly over the baby, so Bella knows she will protect them. Heida

They must watch the Underworld Series after these, Keep the vampire flicks coming. I honestly think they are a upgrade from the twilight movies. These are super fun though, Cringy but still making me laugh and smile somehow.

Daaylen Watson

Rosalie is married to Damon IRL just so you guys know lol.

Karianna

I was twelve when this one came out but wanted to see it in theaters with friends even though it was pg-13. Somehow they let us buy the tickets but I was still anxious of doing something illegal lol. I had also read the books so I was anxious about the birth situation. Needless to say I was grossed out and horrified. In retrospect I should've waited and watched all the movies in order later and not traumatized myself with this one first. 🥲

Venla

I’m team Jacob all day long in the first few movies, but I can never get past him imprinting on Renesemee

Sam

Literally facts lol. Meyers is such a weirdo imprinting on children is fine along w a 100+ vampire staring at u sleeping is romantic like this sounds groomer ish and stalking. I'm very glad she gets backlash and trolled constantly it's payback for these plots that shouldn't ever been written lol

Angela Carolina

It replays him saying that it could be a friend or an uncle while he's doing the imprinting. But they really should have hammered in better beforehand that it doesn't have to be romantic.

ShittyShittyGameGang

LOL this whole movie is like a nightmare honestly. I remember people making a huge deal about filming for the honeymoon scenes, it was all over magazines and social media. People were so excited to see Bella's dress. This was really a moment.

Briana J

Yeah she was. Meyers had a problem with sex before marriage but she was ok with grown adults imprinting on children...yah..o...k 🙄😂

Seelia

I read the books, twice, and I always disagreed with some of the readers who tried justifying it. And while the author did say that it isn’t romantic. She also said it can be and you’re right, she did say Jacob will be whoever Renesmee needs him to be and that could be a partner. Jacob will never love anyone else, meaning he’ll either be alone forever or with her. It always gave me the ick. In the book, they talk extensively about his friend Quill imprinting on a child, The rest of the pack felt sorry for Quill. It just added to the ick. Stephanie Meyer was a weirdo.

Heidi Louise

There are two scenes I always have to skip. 1) Jacob standing up to Sam and becoming an alpha because it's just bad acting. It's so bad. 2) the imprinting scene. It's filmed horribly. It's slightly, I mean slightly, better in the books because it expressly says that imprinting doesn't have to be a romantic bond, and it's one sided on the part of the wolf. The other person is not affected by the imprinting and retains their agency. But the movie very much implies that imprinting is a romantic attachment, so Jacob's imprinting just comes off as a disturbing plot point.

RC Flores

Great reaction. Let me clear this up, Bella didn't want to give Jacob an invitation bc she knew he still had feelings for her and told this to Alice. Edward was the one who sent him it bc he thought it was right to give him the option to go or not too, he saw it as a good gesture but this was behind Bella's back which isn't great

Angela Carolina

Jacob imprinting on their baby is absolutely horrible. Idk but I will never be ok with it no matter how some fans spin it to be a good thing. It's kinda gives off grooming from birth until she's off age to be romantic. He literally said whatever she needs him to be, a protected, a brother a partner but definitely not no second dad lol. Those are all the steps until shes off age and starts catching feelings. He was selfish to do it without even talking to Edward and bella. Stephanie Myers was a weirdo with this whole imprinting shenanigans. Always cant wait for yall to watch pt2 best movie out of all!!! Please drop it early for us.

Peaches

Someone please tell Matthew he is hilarious and should be doing more reactions with the guys! And please, please, make sure Matthew watches Underworld when you guys are ready! I can't wait to see the comparison to the different vampire/werewolf lore from those movies! ❤❤❤ Maybe you guys will all be switching teams again? 🤔😅

Seelia

🤣😂 Such a fun reaction. You guys were pretty normal hearing about the imprinting. It's good you didn't jump to conclusions right away. 😂 Seriously though, book readers would have a better understanding of what imprinting means, in this universe. But to movie goers, it's not a good thing. Jacob is basically gonna be grooming this poor half vamp baby from birth. Yeah, he's basically robbing the cradle. 😑😅 I'm gonna say, I understand why the author chose to go this route. She wanted a way to keep Jacob connected to Bella, but I think it's twisted and I don't like it.

Seelia

Jacob imprinting on their baby is the worst writing ever. And nothing can change my mind about that. I hated it when I read it in the book. I hated it, when I watched it on the screen. I hated it all lol
