I also think some people tend to forget that Elena’s parents haven’t died too long ago. That conversation between Caroline and elena was so meaningful. it shows how good of a friend Elena is, and how much she can relate with Caroline. It puts a perspective on what losing a father is like, and they can bond over that. Losing parents is such a hard thing to go through, and it shows a realistic aspect of grief in tvd. I think this show does an amazing job of showing love, loss, and the meaning of family.
